Do I have to collect my luggage during a stopover?
If all your flights are with the same airline, your luggage will follow you to your final destination.
If you have to spend a night in transit, you’ll have to collect your luggage.
If you’re transiting through the United States, you’ll have to go through customs, collect your luggage and go through security with your luggage.
Formalities if you’re travelling via or to the USA:
European passengers with an electronic or biometric passport or a machine-readable French passport, issued before 26 October, 2005, must apply for an ESTA. You can go directly to the official website ESTA USA or apply online on the website of our exclusive partner CIBT Visa who, for a small fee, will help you with your application.
This electronic visa is available for a lower price on the United States government website, but there's no online help and you won't be informed when your visa is approved.
Passengers who don't meet this criteria must obtain a US visa to travel to the USA (for tourism or business - period of less than 90 days).
Individual passports are required for adults, children and infants.
